Tracking a hot Tuesday & windy conditions

Good morning and happy Tuesday.

We're starting the day with another hot and humid morning as temperatures remain in the low 80s. Breezy south winds, with gusts reaching the upper 20s to lower 30s, will continue to transport warmer air into northwest Missouri and northeast Kansas throughout the day.

Afternoon temperatures will climb back into the middle 90s, while heat index values are expected to reach 105 to 110 degrees. The combination of hot temperatures and high humidity will create dangerous conditions, especially during the afternoon and early evening.

An Extreme Heat Warning remains in effect through Friday evening. Limit time outdoors when possible, stay well-hydrated, wear lightweight clothing, and take frequent breaks in air-conditioned spaces if you must be outside.

The hot weather pattern will continue through the remainder of the workweek. A slight chance for isolated showers returns Thursday, but many locations are expected to remain dry.

The next better opportunity for rain arrives Saturday night into Sunday morning, bringing a chance for scattered showers and thunderstorms before drier conditions return later in the weekend.
