Tracking hot and sunny days ahead

Typical July heat and lots of sunshine will persist across the Mid-Missouri River Valley to finish out the weekend, and start the work week. A ridge of high pressure will lock this pattern firmly in place for the next 5 to 7 days, eventually leading to higher intensity heat late next week. Mid to upper 80s and sunny skies Sunday afternoon will give way to a slow cool-off after sunset with lows falling into the mid to upper 60s by early Monday morning. Patchy fog is possible through 10 a.m. Monday, before sunshine takes over allowing afternoon highs to warm into the upper 80s to near 90 degrees.
