Tracking rain and t-storm chances, Friday afternoon heat

Passing rain and t-storm chances will once again be accompanied by periods of high heat and humidity on Friday across Northwest Missouri and Northeast Kansas. Early morning showers and a few rumbles of thunder are possible, especially on the Kansas side and parts of far Northern Missouri near the Iowa border. Clouds will give way to more sunshine at times Friday afternoon with highs in the low to mid 90s and heat index values peaking in the triple digits. A Heat Advisory remains in effect along the HWY-36 corridor through 9 p.m. Saturday, with an Extreme Heat Warning further south including the KC metro. A second chance of scattered storms will develop in parts of the area late Friday afternoon and evening, with a risk for pockets of higher wind gusts and hail, mainly confined to far Northern Missouri.
