Tracking More Heat for Thursday

Well we have another very hot September day across northeast Kansas and northwest Missouri Thursday, with plenty of sunshine and temperatures climbing well into the mid to upper 90s.

We will start the day very warm, with temperatures mostly in the middle to upper 70s. Lots of sunshine will quickly take over, which means that temperatures will rise rapidly through the morning and afternoon.

We will look for a high near 97 degrees in St. Joseph and with the humidity factored in, the heat index could climb to around 105 to 110 degrees during the hottest part of the afternoon. A Heat advisory remains in effect through Friday evening, so any outdoor activities need to be done either early in the morning or late in the day.

Thursday night remains mostly clear and warm with overnight lows in the mid to upper 70s and dew points will start to rise into the middle 60s. Not much of a relief in site as temperatures will remain well above normal for this time of year and that looks to continue into the weekend.
