Tracking scattered t-storms, warm and muggy air

Warm and muggy air has moved back into Northwest Missouri and Northeast Kansas over the past 12 to 24 hours, fueling rounds of scattered shower and thunderstorm activity starting Thursday afternoon and evening. A few storms may be severe with gusty winds and hail the primary hazards. Locally heavy rainfall could also lead to a flash flood risk in areas that see multiple thunderstorms back-to-back. A Flood Watch has been issued for much of Northwest Missouri and Northeast Kansas through 7 a.m. Friday, June 5.

Isolated to scattered rain and thunderstorm chances will persist into the weekend and early next week, followed by a stretch of high heat and more humidity in the extended forecast with afternoon 90s in the forecast for several consecutive days by the middle of next week.
