Tracking a windy & hot Wednesday

Good morning and happy Wednesday.

As you're heading out the door this morning, we're dealing with breezy conditions that will only get stronger through the day. Wind gusts are already reaching the upper 20s and 30s, and a Wind Advisory remains in effect from 7 a.m. through the afternoon for much of northwest Missouri.

During the advisory, south winds are expected to be sustained between 15 and 25 mph, with gusts as high as 50 mph. Secure any loose outdoor items and use extra caution if traveling in high-profile vehicles.

Despite the strong winds, it will also be a hot day. High temperatures will climb back into the low 90s this afternoon, making it feel more like the middle of summer.

A boundary moving through the region will help trigger strong thunderstorms across central Missouri later today. Fortunately, most of northwest Missouri and northeast Kansas are expected to remain dry, with only a very slim chance for a few showers in our southeastern counties.

Dry weather returns Thursday and Friday with a mix of sun and clouds. Highs will cool back into the low 80s Thursday before warming into the upper 80s by Friday and Saturday.

Rain and thunderstorm chances return this weekend, with showers possible both Saturday and Sunday. Conditions briefly dry out early next week before additional rain chances return by Tuesday, along with temperatures cooling back into the low 80s.
