Tracking a hot and steamy weekend, slim rain chances

High heat and humidity will continue to dominate the forecast across Northwest Missouri and Northeast Kansas through the weekend, with plenty of sunshine between very slim rain chances. The first opportunity for a stray shower or storm is between 4 and 7 p.m. Friday, with chances at around 20%. Otherwise, mostly sunny skies and 90s Friday afternoon will give way to a warm and muggy night with dry skies, lows in the mid 70s, and southwest winds at 10 to 15 mph. Saturday brings more sunshine and afternoon highs in the low to mid 90s, with a 10% chance of a stray late day shower. A repeat performance is expected Sunday with highs in the mid 90s, mostly sunny skies, and a 20% chance of isolated afternoon t-showers. Heat index values for the next several days will rise into the tiple digits, due to a combination of high temperatures and humid air.
