Tracking dangerous heat through mid-week

Good morning and happy Monday!

We're starting the workweek with a warm and breezy morning. Temperatures are already in the upper 70s to lower 80s, with strong southwest winds bringing in more of that hot, humid air.

A few scattered showers are tracking east and southeast this morning, with a few isolated showers possible through the morning commute. Most of us will stay dry, though, as the rain gradually shifts south.

By lunchtime, temperatures will climb into the upper 80s, with highs reaching around 95 degrees this afternoon. Heat index values will climb into the triple digits, making for a dangerously hot afternoon. Be sure to drink plenty of water, wear lightweight clothing and take frequent breaks if you're spending time outside.

We'll stay hot through Tuesday and Wednesday, with temperatures in the middle to upper 90s and heat index values again reaching the triple digits.

The good news is relief is coming. A stronger front moves through Wednesday, bringing increasing rain chances and much cooler temperatures into the 80s for the second half of the workweek and into the weekend.

We've got to get through the first half of the week, but some cooler and more comfortable weather is on the way!
