Tracking a cooler and partly cloudy Thursday

Good morning and happy Thursday! Temperatures are starting off in the upper 60s to low 70s across the area this morning, with a few scattered showers continuing to push southeast. If you're heading out this morning, go ahead and grab the umbrella!

Rain chances will gradually dwindle through the morning, and we should dry out by the afternoon. Temperatures will stay on the cooler side today, with highs in the low 80s under partly cloudy skies.

Friday looks to be a beautiful day, with temperatures warming back into the low to middle 80s and more sunshine. However, our next chance for rain and thunderstorms arrives late Friday night into Saturday as another system moves into the region.

Storm chances will continue into the weekend, with temperatures warming into the middle to upper 80s. Saturday afternoon into Saturday night could bring a few stronger storms, with the primary severe-weather threat being damaging winds. An isolated severe storm cannot be ruled out, but the overall severe-weather threat is expected to remain marginal at this time.

Additional showers and thunderstorms could linger into Sunday and continue into early next week. Another system may bring more storms Monday night, with temperatures eventually dropping back into the middle 70s by the middle of next week.

Overall, expect a cooler and quieter Thursday afternoon and Friday before our weather pattern turns more unsettled this weekend and into next week. With several rounds of storms possible, heavy rainfall could become a concern at times, although there is still some uncertainty about exactly where the heaviest rain will fall.
