The YMCA will break ground on its new Aquatic Center in March.

ST. JOSEPH, Mo. (KQTV) -- The St. Joseph YMCA aims to begin production on its new aquatic center and indoor gymnasium.

The facility will hold a groundbreaking ceremony at 1 p.m. on March 24.

Leading the process is the CEO for the YMCA in St. Joseph, Tammy Killin.

"The Capital Project is two phases. The first phase is the aquatic center, but the second phase is the gymnasium," Killin says. "The gymnasium will not only serve as a crash area for the swimmers, but it will also have programming for youth sports."

The process of the construction will take anywhere between 14 and 18 months.

The YMCA hopes to finish production by the fall of 2027.
