Tracking a dry and frigid Friday

Polar air has returned to Northwest Missouri and Northeast Kansas to finish the work week, with subfreezing temperatures and single digit wind chills across the board Friday morning. Partly cloudy skies, below average temperatures, and icy northwest breezes will stick around through the day with highs rising into the mid 30s. A chance of flurries and light snow arrives after sunset Friday night. Minimal accumulations are anticipated, with the best chance for a dusting of snow south of the Highway 36 corridor. Cold and dry conditions will linger through the weekend with a mix of clouds and sunshine. High temperatures will remain in the 30s both Saturday and Sunday with lows well into the teens. Polar air lingers Monday, before temperatures trend above average by the middle of next week.
