GOWER, Mo. (KQTV) -- Residents in Gower, Agency and the Stewartsville areas were without power for almost four hours after a scheduled outage was supposed to end.

The City of Gower announced a scheduled power outage for the areas in a Facebook post Thursday, detailing that the outage was supposed to last from 1 a.m. until 4 a.m. Friday morning.

The post also explained the outage was in order to work on energized lines as a safety issue.

Friday morning, East Buchanan High School said buses will run on schedule; however, if power is not restored by 9 a.m., the school will dismiss early.

In an updated post, the school said it was told power would be restored by 7:30 a.m. Shortly after, the school announced that power was restored.

KQ2 reached out to Evergy, which said the outage lasted longer than usual because of equipment maintenance and unexpected work issues during the time period.
