Pedestrian dies in Clay County crash

CLAY COUNTY, Mo. (KQTV) -- A 40-year-old man from Bates City, Missouri, is dead after being struck by a vehicle when he entered the roadway on Interstate 35 Thursday night.

The crash occurred around 8:24 p.m. at the 13.2-mile marker on I-35.

According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol Crash Report, the 21-year-old female driver of a 2014 Kia Optima was northbound on I-35 when the man entered the roadway.

The man was then struck by the vehicle and was pronounced dead around 8:40 p.m. by Kevin Davis with the Pleasant Valley Fire Department.
