St. Joseph Reads hosts summit to raise literacy awareness

ST. JOSEPH, Mo. (KQTV) -- St. Joseph Reads will be hosting its Literacy Summit: Building a Legacy of Literacy on Thursday, March 26.

The event will bring together several educators, business leaders, nonprofit partners, civic organizations and community members to raise awareness for the different uses of literacy in St. Joseph.

"This summit is designed to move our community from concern to coordinated action by bringing together voices from education, business, and civic life," said Carol Burns, representing St. Joseph Reads.

Those who attend the event will have the chance to engage in open dialogue, community-based solutions and lived experience to develop a vision for advancing literacy in the St. Joseph community.

The Summit will take place from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the inspireU Children's Discovery Center, located at 521 Felix St.
