St. Joseph man arrested after shots fired incident around Clay Street
ST. JOSEPH, Mo. (KQTV) -- An 18-year-old St. Joseph man was arrested Monday morning after allegedly firing multiple shots into a structure on Clay Street while intoxicated.
No injuries were reported during the incident as officers responded to reports of shots fired just after 2:30 a.m. Monday morning.
Jax Harrison walked into the area of Clay Street from the east, pulled a handgun with a laser and fired multiple rounds into a structure that contained two occupants, damaging the residence and property inside, according to a probable cause statement filed Monday.
Harrison fled the scene to the east. Officers were in the area and heard the gunshots and later approached Harrison, who was walking in the area.
Harrison continued to flee on foot and was later caught and arrested.
The incident was caught on camera, where Harrison was seen wearing black pants, a black sweatshirt and had a distinct marking on his leg.
Officers also located a handgun with a laser on Harrison when he was arrested.
According to the probable cause statement, Harrison gave a statement to officers where he said he remembers doing some of the aforementioned acts, but didn't intend to kill or hurt any person.
The probable cause statement also detailed that Harrison was intoxicated during the incident and had previously made threats to a person in the residence, with whom he had a previous relationship, that he was going to shoot up the residence.
Harrison admitted he was hurt due to the relationship coming to an end.
Harrison is facing First Degree Assault and Armed Criminal Action charges and was denied bond.
Harrison will make his initial appearance in front of Judge Rebecca Spencer at 8:15 a.m. on Wednesday, March 4.
