Troy High School girls hoops dominates Goessel in the Class 1A DI Sub-State Semifinals
(TROY, KS) - The 4 seed Troy High School girls basketball team almost racked up 100 points on Monday night as the Lady Trojans took down 5 seed Goessel, 91-38 in the Class 1A DI Sub-State Semifinals.
The Lady Trojans had five player finish in double-figures. Led by senior Harper Whetstine with 21, she was followed closely behind by senior Alyson Grable with 20. Sophomore Hailey Groff finished with 17 points for Troy and senior Nicole Judd hit 5 3-pointers and finished with 15 points.
"It's so exciting, we've been working on it all year, we've been practicing hard and we were just ready to play because we've been off for a while," said Whetstine.
"Last year we obviously won sub-state and we got 3rd in state and we had the same goals this year," said Grable. "We worked hard every day to get to this point and hopefully we can make it even further."
"It's a lot of fun when the ball goes in the hole, and the ball was going in the hole tonight. That doesn't happen very often, us shooting the ball like that," said Troy head coach Derek Jasper. "Everybody hit and we had 5 girls in double figures. "Everybody knows about Harper (Whetstine), but man, what a great night for our two other seniors on their last game here. Nicole Judd hit 5 3s in the first half and Alyson Grable gets 20."
Troy improves to 16-6 on the season and will now face 1 seed Wabaunsee in the Class 1A DI Sub-State Finals at Clifton-Clyde High School on Saturday, March 7th. Time TBD.
