MoWest falls in MIAA Tournament semifinals; await NCAA Tournament selection

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KQTV) — The MoWest men's basketball team put up a fight against the top-ranked team in the MIAA Tournament on Saturday, but the Washburn Ichabods were too much.

#1 Washburn defeated No. 4 MoWest, 85-69, Saturday night in the MIAA Tournament semifinals at Municipal Auditorium in downtown Kansas City.

The Ichabods held a 10-point lead at the half, 41-31, and the Griffons kept it close throughout the first 20 minutes.

In the second half, the Ichabods led by as many as 22 points, but MoWest would be able to go on a few min-runs.

Despite the Griffons' best efforts, the Ichabods had an answer for it Saturday night and end MoWest's conference tournament run.

The Griffons sit at 21-11 on the season and will have to wait on the NCAA Division II Selection Show Sunday night to see if their season will continue.
