Tracking a dry and windy late-week

Dry and windy conditions are creating elevated fire weather concerns across Northwest Missouri and Northeast Kansas Thursday. Gusty southwest winds at 25 to 45 mph, and dry skies will continue into Thursday evening with temperatures falling from near 60 degrees to the low 40s after midnight. Seasonable temperatures and sunshine arrive Friday with highs in the mid 50s and northwest winds at 20 to 30 mph. Increasing clouds and warmer air return to the area Saturday, ahead of a strong low-pressure system expected to bring gusty winds, colder air, and a chance for rain and snow on Sunday.

A Red Flag Warning is in effect area-wide from 12 PM to 9 PM Thursday.

A Wind Advisory is effect for the region from 12 PM Thursday to 2 AM Friday.
