ST. JOSEPH, Mo. (KQTV) — A former MoWest football standout is heading to a new city to continue his NFL career.

According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, safety Jonathan Owens is heading to the Indianapolis Colts on a one-year deal.

Owens was an undrafted free agent following the 2018 NFL Draft and was picked up by the Arizona Cardinals, but spent his first season in the injured reserve.

In 2019, Owens was signed to the Houston Texans' practice squad in late September and spent the next few years in Houston.

Following the 2022 season, Owens was signed by the Green Bay Packers and scored his first career touchdown on a 27-yard fumble recovery on Thanksgiving 2023 against the Lions.

Owens was signed by the Chicago Bears in March of 2024 and spent two seasons in Chicago. He scored the team's first touchdown of the season in the opener against the Titans. Owens returned a blocked punt for a touchdown in the win.
