Rock Port R-II student taken into custody following social media threats

ROCK PORT, Mo. (KQTV) -- A Rock Port R-II student was taken into custody after posting threatening videos on social media.

According to letter sent to families in the district by school administration, a junior high student was taken into custody after it was reported that the student posted threatening videos.

Administration stated that the school district is working with local and state authorities conducting the investigation.

"We assure that these threats are taken seriously and are being dealt with appropriately," the Rock Port administration said in the letter.

The letter adds that all decisions will be made with the safety and security of students, staff, and community at the highest priority.
