Tracking record breaking temperatures & sunshine

Good morning, and happy first day of spring!

Temperatures this morning are very similar to yesterday, running well above the seasonal average. We’re waking up to readings in the upper 40s and 50s, and today will be another warm one. Afternoon highs are expected to reach the mid- to upper 80s, with a chance to break a record high.

Overnight, temperatures will only fall into the 50s, making for a mild evening as we ring in the start of spring.

The current record high for today is 82 degrees, set in 1934, and we’re forecast to climb well above that mark.

This warming trend continues into Saturday, with highs again in the upper 80s to near 90 degrees. Another record could be in jeopardy — the current record for Saturday is 88 degrees, set in 1916.

We cool down slightly on Sunday, with highs returning to the low 70s. Conditions will remain dry and mostly sunny, with some breezy winds.

By Monday, cooler air settles in, bringing temperatures back closer to seasonal averages, with highs in the upper 50s.

With dry conditions through the weekend and warmer temperatures, an elevated fire risk will be in place. While no fire alerts have been issued, it’s a good idea to avoid outdoor burning.

Looking ahead to next week, temperatures quickly warm back into the upper 70s by Wednesday and Thursday, with dry conditions continuing through midweek.
