Renovations begin at Coleman Hawkins

ST. JOSEPH, Mo. (KQTV) -- Construction crews recently fenced off Coleman Hawkins Park for renovations being funded by a Parks Tax fund.

St. Joseph City Council members recently approved a $902,700 Parks Tax funded contract to renovate the Downtown park.

The new property will feature a new stage in place of the current gazebo, seating in the front of the stage and an amphitheater adjacent setting to assist with acoustics for performers.

The layout of the renovated park will be designed for enhancing sound quality for concerts and other events that are held at the park.

Work is expected to be completed in Fall of 2026.
