Benton baseball cruises to their third win of the season against Lafayette

ST. JOSEPH, Mo. (KQTV) -- The Benton Cardinals are now 3-0 on the season after defeating the Lafayette Fighting Irish in six innings, 11-0.

Benton junior Boston Cook had himself a day on the mound. In five innings pitched, Cook allowed just two hits and had 10 strikeouts. Cook had success at the plate as well. In his four at-bats, he had three hits and three RBI's. Senior Cy Polley had a nice day for the Cardinals as he had two hits and three RBI's in his four at-bats.

Benton now improves to 3-0 on the season, while Lafayette starts the year, 1-2.

Benton will host Pembroke Hill in their next game on Friday, while Lafayette will head to Washington, Mo. to compete in the Bank Classic on Friday and Saturday.
