Shields files to run for Missouri State Senate seat

State of Missouri

ST. JOSEPH, Mo. (KQTV) -- On the final day to file for candidacy, Missouri Representative Brenda Shields has filed to run for an open Missouri Senate seat.

Shields announced last fall that she would not run for the Senate's District 34 seat, but on Tuesday afternoon, the representative put her name back in the race.

She is running for a seat currently being held by Sen. Tony Luetkemeyer, R-Buchanan/Platte County, who is terming out.

Shields will face Rep. Sean Pouche (R-Buchanan/Platte County), Rep. Mike Jones (R-Platte) and Ryan Gerster in the August Republican primary.
