Tax, bond issues to appear on Andrew County ballot

KQ2

ANDREW COUNTY, Mo. (KQTV) -- Andrew County residents will have a chance to vote on three different ballot measures Tuesday concerning a changes in taxes and the implementations of bonds.

One county tax credit question would allow eligible county taxpayers to be exempt from certain tax increases on their primary residences. Depending on the property and situation, Andrew County Commissioners said the tax rate would be capped at around 5% and not raised much above that.

A possible 911 sales tax remains popular, one that would eventually create a new dispatch center.

The language around the bill states that a 1% sales tax would be imposed to build the center. This comes amid concerns that dispatch services for fire, law enforcement and more will be moved out of the county to dispatchers who aren't as familiar with the area.

The last question is whether the Public Water Supply District for the county should issue $15 million in waterworks system revenue bonds.

The question states that this would be for the purpose of extending and improving the district's waterworks system, including acquiring land and rights, as well as the costs of operation and maintenance. This would be with the principal and interest on said revenue bonds payable solely from the revenues derived from the district's system.

This would be said to include all future improvements and extensions to the system.
