Tracking a warm week ahead with rain chances

Abigail McCluskey

Above-average temperatures will continue across northwest Missouri and northeast Kansas this week, but rain chances are returning as several disturbances move through the region.

Highs will climb into the upper 70s Monday, with dry conditions expected for most of the day. Temperatures will dip slightly Tuesday, with highs in the low to mid-70s as clouds increase and scattered rain chances develop.

Rain chances will range from 15% to 30% Tuesday into Wednesday morning. Another round of rain is possible Wednesday, with highs returning to the mid- to upper 70s. Southerly winds will also pick up, with gusts possible as speeds increase to 15 to 20 mph.

The best chance for rain arrives Wednesday evening as a cold front approaches the region. Northern Missouri has a 50% to 70% chance of rain during this time, while northeast Kansas and areas farther south could see lower chances.

A few thunderstorms are possible Wednesday evening, although the potential for severe weather remains uncertain. We'll keep an eye on the forecast as the front gets closer.

Rain chances will continue at times through the end of the week and into early next week as additional weather systems move through the region. Temperatures are expected to cool toward the weekend, although the timing and extent of the cooldown remain uncertain.

Overall, expect a warm start to the week with several opportunities for rain before cooler temperatures potentially arrive by the weekend.
