St. Joseph Mustangs announce throwback night dedicated to the Saint Joseph Drummers

St. Joseph Mustangs

ST. JOSEPH, Mo. (KQTV) -- The St. Joseph Mustangs have announced a throwback night for this summer that will celebrate a team from the early 20th century.

The Mustangs will be the Saint Joseph Drummers on Saturday, June 27.

The Drummers were a minor league team in the Western League from 1910-1917. They finished second in 1911 and 1912. Hall of Fame pitcher Dazzy Vance played for the drummers.

According to the St. Joseph Baseball Hall of Famer Bob Slater, the team got their name from salesmen that were able to "drum" up business in the community.
