Tracking a warm Wednesday and Thursday t-storms

Good morning and happy Wednesday.

We’re starting the day with temperatures in the low to mid-60s across the St. Joseph area. Clouds will gradually decrease through the day, allowing highs to climb back into the upper 70s. It will remain breezy, with south winds gusting into the mid-30 mph range. Today is the last day of these warmer, windy conditions before changes arrive.

By Thursday morning, we’ll see a few light, scattered showers. As we head into the afternoon and evening, the region is under a Level 2 risk for strong to potentially severe storms. The first line of storms is expected to develop along a dry line during the early evening hours, followed by additional showers and storms overnight into early Friday morning along a cold front.

The main threats with these storms will be damaging winds and small hail.

Rain chances will continue through the weekend and into early next week, bringing the potential for higher rainfall totals and localized flooding concerns. Some areas could see up to 2 inches of additional rain.

Friday and Saturday appear to be the driest days before rain chances return Sunday and continue into early Monday. Behind the cold front, temperatures will return closer to seasonal averages, with highs in the upper 60s early next week.
