MoWest football airs it out with five passing touchdowns in Spring Game

(ST. JOSEPH, MO) - The MoWest football team wrapped up spring camp by having the Griffons annual Spring Game Friday evening. The offense took down the defense, 36-33.

The Griffon quarterbacks looked sharp for the most part. Senior quarterback Kane Donovan had touchdown passes to sophomore receiver Denym Guthrie and redshirt sophomore tight end Bryce Page. Sophomore Holden Hansen had a long touchdown pass to Guthrie, Isaiah Tate had a touchdown pass to junior Bryce Marcus III and sophomore quarterback DeAngelo Perales had a touchdown pass to sophomore Mickhi Mitchell.

"I felt like we executed at a high level. Seeing these guys for 15 practices, it gets a little tiring seeing the same defense over and over, but I thought it was fun," said Donovan. "We came out and competed. The o-line blocked their tails off. The receivers made some plays after the catch, and I thought it was a great overall spring spring game."

Head coach Tyler Fenwick, going into his fourth season leading the team, thought it was a solid spring camp.

"Every day was coming out with a new challenge. Watching these kids, just with so many new faces, and watching them soak up information and be coached and listen and make some mistakes, then correct mistakes and see them improving," said Fenwick. "I thought it was gratifying. It was one of those things where you felt like you were really, really coaching hard. It lays a foundation for us for when we come back in the fall that shows who we are and what we're about. They now have to carry that over."

MoWest and Fenwick kick off the season on Thursday, August 27th as the Griffons will host Augustana at 7 pm.
