MoWest women’s lacrosse gets Senior Day victory over Lewis; becomes the 4 seed in GLVC Tournament

(ST. JOSEPH, MO) - The MoWest women's lacrosse team earned a 16-10 Senior Day victory over Lewis on Sunday as the Griffons wrapped up the regular season.

Redshirt senior Caetryn Gilreath, senior Maleah Sosa, junior Clare Sondrall, junior Callie Faragher, and junior Olivia Fornelli all finished with 2 goals each for MoWest.

"Lewis was definitely a game that we were entering into that it was gonna be some tough competition, but I think overall we really worked together in the end we pulled out a W, which is obviously amazing," said Gilreath. "We're 6-0 now in all time on senior day, so it's great to end on that note at Spratt."

"I think it's really important to go in on a high note. Obviously the girls are really excited. I think it's like a win for the seniors when it comes that day. So the 6-0 record is awesome," said head coach Jessica Berg. "Hopefully that trend continues forever. I think the girls just come out to play much harder because they know that it means more just on senior day naturally."

MoWest now gets the 4 seed in the Grand Lakes Valley Conference tournament and will face 1 seed Indianapolis on the road in Indiana on Friday, May 1st in the semifinals. MoWest just faced Indianapolis in St. Joseph on Friday, April 24th and fell 19-5.
