Motorcycle driver ejected, seriously injured in crash at South Belt Highway intersection

ST. JOSEPH, Mo. (KQTV) -- A motorcycle driver suffered serious injuries in a crash with a vehicle at the intersection of South Belt Highway and Pickett Road Saturday night.

SJPD sent out a Nixle Alert Saturday, just before 9:30 p.m., advising drivers to avoid the area due to multiple lanes being blocked. Sgt Patrick Zeamer told KQ2 that the wreck happened around 8:55 pm.

The motorcycle driver was wearing a helmet, but was ejected at the time of the crash. Officers on scene said the driver's injuries may evolve into life-threatening.

According to Sgt. Zeamer of the Crash Team on scene, speed could have been a factor in the cause of the crash.

KQ2 will provide more details as they are provided.
