Tracking dry skies, warming trend ahead

Seasonably cool air and partly sunny skies have made for a fair Mother’s Day across Northwest Missouri and Northeast Kansas, with afternoon highs in the low 70s and light northerly breezes. Mostly clear skies and chilly temperatures are in store for tonight with lows in the mid to upper 40s after midnight. Monday marks the start of a warming trend and several days of sunshine as highs rise into the low 80s. An upper-level ridge will build across the country from west to east through the week, promoting above average temperatures and mainly dry skies, with only a few low-end rain chances locally through the start of next weekend. By Friday and Saturday, highs could approach the low 90s across the Mid-Missouri River Valley. A taste of summer-like heat for sure!
