Warrant issued in Buchanan County for Virginia man charged in rape of Kansas 13-year-old

ST. JOSEPH, Mo. (KQTV) — A Virginia man living in Fort Riley, Kansas, is facing first-degree statutory rape charges after authorities say he picked up a 13-year-old girl from Elwood, Kansas, and drove her to St. Joseph, Missouri.

Deonne Lamon Stinson, 27, has a warrant out for his arrest in Buchanan County.

According to a probable cause statement, officer reports and witness statements detail that Stinson began communicating with the 13-year-old victim within the past month.

Their conversations began as "innocent," but Stinson eventually began sending sexually explicit messages to the victim.

The victim told Police that she met with Stinson in person multiple times between May 4 and May 6. She also said Stinson drove a black Ford Mustang with a loud exhaust and picked her up near her residence in Elwood.

Stinson drove the victim to a location in St. Joseph and engaged in sexual intercourse and activity on multiple occasions.

The victim also told the police that a video was recorded of them engaging in sexual acts. The video was observed by officers in Elwood.

The victim was seen at Children's Mercy for a Sexual Assault exam, where she disclosed to nurses that Stinson knew she was 13-years-old because she told him about an upcoming 8th-grade ceremony.

Stinson is not local to St. Joseph and does not have any known ties to the area. He lives in Fort Riley, Kansas, but is from Suffolk County, Virginia.

Stinson was booked in the Geary County, Kansas, Detention Center on May 7 after "fleeing from justice."
