Former St. Joseph residents returning to speak on their ongoing mission in Guatemala

ST. JOSEPH, Mo. (KQTV) -- Former St. Joseph residents Cole and Sarah McCauley will return to share knowledge and hope regarding their mission in Guatemala.

Casa de mi Padre, a children's home in Guatemala, has supported children in the country for some time. The program brings in children and teaches them the school curriculum, faith-based teachings, and day-to-day skills such as sewing.

Why would someone uproot their life to assist children in another country? For the McCauleys, it’s giving them hope through faith and the children's positive reactions.

“Just the way you get to know these children, you get to see how they can love and how they want to, just share with others what they've received. It's amazing,” said Cole McCauley. “We want them to know that they're loved. They are wanted. And that God has not overlooked them.”

Cole and Sarah McCauley will host an event at Frederick Blvd. Baptist Church in St. Joseph, where they will share their mission at Child Rescue International, Inc., and discuss how locals can support Casa de mi Padre’s efforts to help children in Guatemala.

This year, the McCauleys have become directors after serving for a little over a decade. While they recognize the tough task ahead, they’re confident in their past work and in the support they continue to receive from their home state.

“We have been anticipating that for a while, but it's finally here, and we're a little overwhelmed. But we have a whole lot of people helping us,” Sarah McCauley shared. “So it's good to come back and just say thanks for all of your help from all these different people and share with other people how they can be involved.”

The presentation is Saturday, May 16th, at 7:00 pm.
