Savannah Aquatic Center hosted a ribbon cutting to celebrate renovations

SAVANNAH, Mo. (KQTV) -- After it was announced near the end of last swimming season by the Savannah Parks Department that the pool had reached the end of its lifespan, the Savannah Aquatic Center hosted a ribbon-cutting to celebrate renovations.

Since the closure announcement, Andrew County Aquatic's Initiative raised $1 million to renovate and reopen the pool for future use.

"All these people from our community showed up—the donors, those who contributed their gifts, and so many others who came together to make something special happen," said Andrew County Aquatic's Initiative Director Diane Gould. "As a parent of three kids, this is one of the most meaningful experiences I've ever had."

After reaching its fundraising goal, officials said the renovated pool is projected to last until 2050 or beyond.

"Swimming pools require regular maintenance and care, but we hope to enjoy this facility for the next several decades," Gould told KQ2.

The group first considered fundraising for a new facility, but officials determined the existing structure could be saved after analysis.

"Quitting was never an option for us. Even when obstacles arose, we persevered and were fortunate to receive support right when we needed it," Gould shared.

Information on reservations, ticket prices, and the 2026 season, which opens on May 23, can be found by clicking here. To learn more about the Andrew County Aquatics Initiative here.
