Tracking Friday rain chances

Good morning and happy Friday.

As you’re heading out the door this morning, we’re tracking spotty light rain across northwest Missouri and northeast Kansas. Those showers have continued moving to the northeast through the overnight hours, and we’ll keep those on-and-off rain chances through much of the morning.

Temperatures are mild, sitting in the upper 60s to low 70s, making for a warm and damp start to the day. Roads could be slick for the morning commute, especially as a few heavier pockets of rain move through during the mid-morning hours.

Rain chances will begin to lighten up closer to lunchtime, although scattered showers remain possible through the afternoon.

For baseball fans heading out to tonight’s St. Joseph Mustangs game, conditions should gradually improve later this evening. A few light sprinkles are still possible around first pitch, but overall rain coverage looks to decrease through the evening hours.

Another round of rain and thunderstorms moves in overnight tonight into Saturday morning, with additional rain chances continuing through the weekend and even into early next week.

Most areas could pick up around a half inch to 1 inch of rainfall through Sunday night, while isolated spots could see locally higher amounts closer to 2 to 4 inches. We’ll continue monitoring rainfall totals and river levels closely over the next several days.

Highs today reach near 79 degrees, with temperatures staying in the low to mid-80s through the weekend and into next week.
