CALDWELL COUNTY, Mo. (KQTV) -- A Hamilton, Missouri woman is dead, and another is seriously injured in a Caldwell County crash after their vehicle overturned off of U.S. Highway 36.

The crash occurred at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, as a 57-year-old man driving a 2023 Kenworth T680 tractor-trailer and an 85-year-old woman driving a 2002 Ford F-150 with a 57-year-old woman in the passenger seat.

Both vehicles were eastbound on Highway 36 when the Ford moved to the eastbound shoulder and started to pull back into the roadway.

The tractor-trailer attempted to avoid the Ford but struck the rear of the vehicle.

The Ford traveled off the south side of the roadway, overturned, struck the ground and came to rest on its wheels facing west off the south side of U.S. 36.

The tractor-trailer came to a controlled stop facing east on the south shoulder of eastbound Highway 36.

The 85-year-old, who was not wearing a seatbelt, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol crash report, was pronounced dead at the scene by Caldwell County Coroner Dana Brown and was transported to Bram Funeral in Hamilton.

The 52-year-old was transported by air ambulance to Truman Medical Center in Kansas City.
