St. Joseph Goats meet fans at inaugural event at Civic Center park

ST. JOSEPH, Mo. (KQTV) -- To celebrate its second season in town, The St. Joseph Goats hosted "Goats 'n Bros" at Civic Center Park on Friday.

The event was presented by part-team owner Garage Beer and included multiple music performances, a Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift look-alike contest, a kids' area, and more. There was also a VIP Tent experience featuring local businesses.

Famed former Missouri Tiger and current St. Joseph Goats Wide Receiver Boo Smith was looking forward to one of the activities to bond with fans.

"I love cornhole. I'm a competitor. Whoever wants some problems, y'all come find me. I'll be over here at cornhole," Smith told KQ2.

The Goats will be coming into the Civic Arena on Saturday fresh off a commanding 40-14 win against the Arkansas Diamonds. Although the offense ultimately put on a show, Goats Head Coach Dorsey Golston III said fans will be happy to see the play on the other side of the ball.

"I think defense tomorrow night, we put on a good show.  I'll turn it up a little bit," Golston said. "I think it's. Overall, I was just happy to see the guys back to back at home where I'm. Oh, we all be excited for it all week".

However, Goats Quarterback Angelo Trujillo said he's still ready to pass the ball around, and fans can expect fireworks on the field.

"I think we have a lot more camaraderie. This group is tight, I feel like that chemistry is going to take us to a championship this year."

The game is expected to begin at 7:00 pm on June 6 at the Civic Arena when the Goats host the Ozarks Lunkers. Tickets and other information for the St. Joseph Goats and their games are available by clicking here.
