SJFD battles structure fire on Parkway A

ST. JOSEPH, Mo. (KQTV) -- At around 7:14 p.m. Saturday evening, the St. Joseph Fire Department received a call about a structure fire at 3001 Parkway A.

According to SJFD, upon arrival, crews saw thick smoke pushing out of windows and the garage, labeling it as a charged house.

The street was blocked off as crews began to battle the smoke, which lasted over an hour.

The fire resulted in seven adults and one juvenile being displaced.

Two individuals were sent to the hospital via Buchanan County EMS for evaluation due to smoke inhalation.

There were also several animals present in the house, though not all have been located due to open doors and windows.

However, a couple of cats received resuscitation efforts for smoke inhalation.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
