KCPD investigating late-night homicide in Westport Road business

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KQTV) — A second victim has died after a shooting late Saturday night in Kansas City's Westport area.

Kansas City police identified the victims Sunday as Rickey Cal, 24, and Jeron Jackson, 18.

Officers were called just after 11:30 p.m. Saturday to a reported shooting near Westport Road and Holly Street.

When officers arrived, they found both men inside a QuikTrip suffering from gunshot wounds, according to the Kansas City Police Department.

Cal died at the scene.

Jackson was taken to a hospital with critical injuries and later died. Police said hospital staff pronounced him dead on Sunday morning.

Detectives collected evidence and interviewed witnesses as they worked to determine what led to the shooting.

No arrests have been announced.
