Roadway safety grant applications close Wednesday

ST. JOSEPH, Mo (KQTV) -- The Northwest Missouri Coalition for Roadway Safety (NWMCRS) is closing its grant for its safety programs Wednesday.

The NWMCRS' primary goal is to advocate for safety while driving on roadways in northwest Missouri and to eliminate deaths on the road as much as possible.

To reach that goal, NWMCRS has offered grants for highway and traffic safety programs.

So far in 2026, there have been 15 reported fatalities in the 20 counties in the agency's reach.

Eligible businesses include schools, law enforcement, community groups and health departments. Grant requests can be up to $5,000 and are through reimbursements only.

Interested grant applicants can contact NWMCRS Vice Chairperson Max Schieber at 816-236-1471. To learn more about roadway safety projects, visit https://www.savemolives.com/mcrs/show-me-zero.
