ST. JOSEPH, Mo. (KQTV) -- A Buchanan County Jury found a Country Club, Missouri, man guilty of first-degree statutory sodomy for attempting to have intercourse with children under the age of 12 in 2023.

According to court documents, David W. H. Hugger Jr. attempted to have intercourse with both a five-year-old and a seven-year-old at the time. He was also in a relationship with the victim's mother prior to the events.

Hugger pleaded not guilty to the charge in November 2025, which stems from the probable cause statement that cited the two children.

Hugger's sentencing hearing will be held at 4 p.m. on July 28 in the Division 1 courtroom at the Buchanan County Courthouse.

According to Missouri Statute 566.062, those found guilty of first-degree statutory sodomy can face a minimum of 10 years to life in prison.
