Mosaic offers tips to beat the heat at Chiefs Training Camp

KQ2

ST. JOSEPH, Mo. (KQTV) -- Chiefs Training Camp is currently the talk of the town, and while fans are gearing up to watch the team at Missouri Western State University, Mosaic Life Care is offering words of caution due to the heat.

Mosaic says safety is key and urges attendees to stay alert for signs of heat stroke.

Trauma and Stroke Program Manager Matt Hawkins emphasizes the importance of hydration and preparation.

"Definitely make sure that you hydrate," Hawkins said. "Hydrate before you come out. Make sure you're hydrating while you're at camp. It's going to be very hot. Make sure you're wearing sunscreen to protect your skin."

Additional safety recommendations include wearing light-colored, loose-fitting clothing and applying sunscreen, and bringing portable fans.

Shade is limited at the practice facility, so fans are encouraged to bring their own in the form of tents or visors.

Attendees should watch for common warning signs like nausea, confusion, or headaches, which indicate it's time to cool down quickly.

"If you get the chance to get into some shade, get into some shade," Hawkins added. "Cool down. Shade is limited at camp, though."

For those needing assistance, staff in blue shirts are available to provide on-site medical support.

Training Camp is open to the public on Wednesday, July 29th, and fans are encouraged to prepare in advance.
