Chiefs have final Training Camp practice before first Preseason game, Andy Reid gives update on QB depth chart for Saturday

ST. JOSEPH, Mo. (KQTV) - The Kansas City Chiefs held its final Training Camp practice Thursday morning before facing the Los Angeles Rams on Saturday, August 15th at Arrowhead Stadium at 3 pm.

Some things to notice at training camp on Thursday before the first preseason game was that first-round draft pick, Mansoor Delane was out of his non-contact jersey for the first time all camp as he continues to progress from his shoulder injury.

New signee and veteran defensive end Emmanuel Ogbah was spotted at practice as well, beginning his second stint with the team. But the biggest thing was the anticipation of playing Los Angeles on Saturday, which head coach Andy Reid mentioned along with the quarterback depth chart that day.

"Look forward to the challenge of playing the Rams. So being able to compete against somebody else, it should be a good test for our young guys to get out there and have an opportunity to play," said Reid. "The way the rotation will go is Pat (Mahomes) won't start or play, and then it'll be Justin (Fields) and then (Garrett) Nussmeier and then Chris (Oladokun) will take it from there."

Chris Jones says this Kansas City team is chomping at the bit to play in this preseason game. These long, hot days at camp have built toughness, but the Chiefs are ready to finally hit a jersey with a different color.

"We're kind of tired of hitting each other. These are the days to battle through it. Later on when you get during the season week 12 or 13 when your body starts talking to you, mind over matter," said Jones. "I think that's what we're building right now. We've got a bunch of young guys, a lot of guys out of college, so to hit that wall and continue to push is what we're building right now."

Several rookies will play at Arrowhead Stadium in a Chiefs uniform for the very first time this weekend, including first-round defensive tackle Peter Woods. Chris Jones is very excited for Woods' potential.

"I think for him just pulling it all together, he has the skill set. He has the power for it also and he's strong as an ox," said Jones. "He's willing to learn. I think he's gonna contribute to this defense a lot this year."
