ST. JOSEPH, Mo. (KQTV) -- Pivotal Point Transitional Housing received a $10,000 donation from a local bank branch to support its work in the community.

Mary Meyer, branch retail manager for Southern Bank, said the bank is deeply rooted in the communities it serves and sees that same commitment in Pivotal Point.

“To grow and transition to be valuable to our community and its members and we do appreciate everything they do for them,” she said.

Phil Everitt, vice president of member service at the Federal Home Loan Bank of Des Moines, said the organization decided to provide funding this year to help its Missouri members support nonprofits in their local communities.

Everitt said they’ve awarded 722 grants to nonprofits, totaling $26 million between the organization and its members.

“Its a great way to fulfil our mission of helping people get back into homes and other community development programs,” he added.

Both Everitt and Meyer hope that same passion continues to drive the people involved, helping them put the money to work — whether that means building apartments, helping people find homes or connecting them with the resources they need to be successful.
