Benton High School kicks off senior year with annual Senior Sunrise

ST. JOSEPH, Mo. (KQTV) -- Benton High School hosted its annual senior sunrise for the Class of 2027 Tuesday morning.

Seniors arrived at Benton at 6 a.m., where breakfast and coffee were available. They had a chance to catch up with friends and take senior class photos.

In addition, matching shirts were available for seniors. Three senior girls in attendance expressed their excitement to begin the year.

"It feels amazing," Victorria Barron said.

"It feels so great," Nik Mollus said.

"It feels super bittersweet, adorable, nostalgic and I just love it," Makayla Peters said.

Three seniors who previously attended Central High School shared what it meant to take part in a Benton tradition.

"It feels good, it feels like a tradition," Devin Ferrell said.

"I think it just makes you feel more welcome, especially with the new change. I think it's nice," Taya Moran said.

"I think that it brings everybody together like one last time before we get our senior year started," Elly O'Bryan said.

Many of the seniors said they are excited to graduate, while some are looking forward to other activities.

"Probably the sports for sure. Last ride, so I'm excited for it," Boston Cook said.

This year, Benton’s Class of 2027 includes more than 200 seniors.
