ST. JOSEPH, Mo. (KQTV) -- Several St. Joseph organizations now have more time to apply for Transient Guest Sales Tax funding after the deadline was bumped to Nov. 1.

In 2011, voters in St. Joseph approved an increase in the Transient Guest Sales Tax in hopes of supporting tourism and convention facilities.

The Tourism Commission of St. Joseph will review applications and make recommendations to the City Council, which has the final say on the funding decision.

These applications are evaluated based on several priorities, including potential economic and fiscal impact, tourism benefits, quality-of-life enhancements, public health and safety and the ability to leverage private investment.

Applications are available through the City of St. Joseph's website.

Completed applications are submitted to the City Clerk's Office by Nov. 1.
