Tracking a Sunny and Hot Tuesday

Tuesday we go back to the heat for northwest Missouri and northeast Kansas as a Heat advisory has been issued for the area. Temperatures are expected to be in the upper 90s and in some places we could reach 100 degrees.

We will start the morning warm with temperatures in the mid to lower 70s, then quickly heat up under plenty of sunshine. By the afternoon, temperatures are expected to climb to around 97 degrees, with some areas reaching 100 degrees.

A steady south to southwest wind around 10 to 20 mph will continue moving hot air into the area, and a few gusts could reach 20 to 25 mph during the afternoon.

A few more clouds will move into the area Tuesday night and we will introduce a chance for showers and thunderstorms. The chance is not that great at 20% but as we head towards the late night and early morning on Wednesday the chances for rain and thunderstorms will start to increase across the area. The best chance for precipitation will be on Wednesday afternoon and evening.
