ST. JOSEPH, Mo. (KQTV) -- Civic Arena will host more than 1,700 high school students from 37 high schools for an annual event to introduce students to career paths in the St. Joseph area.

The St. Joseph Chamber of Commerce is planning the two-day event, which will take place starting at 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday and Wednesday, Oct. 13 and 14.

Students take interest surveys before they arrive at the event to help guide them into career paths that might appeal to them.

Students will get the chance to learn about career opportunities in healthcare, manufacturing, ag sciences, arts and communications and more. Visit app.edgefactor.com/my-success for more information.

"For these students, life after graduation is very real because it starts very soon," said Kristie Arthur, director of Workforce Development for the Chamber. "The My Success Event is a great way to help them learn about all of the career opportunities available in the St. Joseph area."

Besides employers, technical schools, colleges and universities will be on hand to discuss educational opportunities to help prepare students for the fields they found interest in at the event.
