ST. JOSEPH, Mo. (KQTV) -- Headlines have circled around the upcoming midterms, including election integrity and security.

One local county clerk is focused on making sure everything is ready to go for Nov. 3.

Todd Blanche, the United States Attorney General, spoke to reporters on Sept. 30 about the importance of election integrity.

"Voter fraud erodes the public's trust in our electoral system and it's vital to our democratic process that we do everything that we can to restore that trust," Blanche said.

Buchanan County Clerk Mary Baack-Garvey has seen the national concerns and is making sure everything is well prepared heading into this election.

"I know that's an issue around the country," Baack-Garvey said. "We treat each election identically when it comes to testing equipment, to securing the equipment, to making sure our election judges are all ready to work on election day."

Baack-Garvey is confident going into this election and doesn't see any issues happening.

"A lot of people are watching the internet and seeing the bad things happening elsewhere and believing it's happening here," Baack-Garvey said. "I don't believe that's happening here. If we have an incident, it's going to be rare. We're safe here in Buchanan (County)."

Those planning on voting in person need to bring a state driver's license or government-issued photo ID.
